Multi award winning, popular chef Mr Nawani is now back at Mr India as owner, after successfully running another Indian restaurant in Hawke's Bay.
Mr Nawani worked for Mr India as head tandoori and curry chef for seven years from Day One, winning several awards for Best Curry. While away from Mr India he got the chance to run his own Indian restaurant in Napier and ran that restaurant successfully, gaining a good reputation.
But luck and his local customers were waiting for him in Lower Hutt when the opportunity arrived to own the place he worked in for seven years.
Mr India captures the eye of the beholder. Having its own private car park, it is a beautiful calm environment surrounded by light Indian classical music and rhythms and Indian decor. Not one to stand back in the kitchen, Mr Nawani is always on hand to find out exactly what his customers want. \"I like talking to people about how they like their curry,\" he said. \"I feel it's essential to take time to ensure customers are satisfied with both the food and the service they getting. We like to see them come back and bring their friends and create good word of mouth.\"
Although he tries to steer people away from choosing the safe option of Butter Chicken, if you insist on the Indian staple Mr Nawani says he will cook you the best Butter Chicken you've ever had. \"I make my own hot as in Kiwi hot, Indian hot and challenge hot and it gives a different kind of taste, which customers love.\"
Mr. Nawani is happy that he is getting good feedback in the market from his local customers and customer satisfaction is the main motto. With a huge selection of vegetarian, non-vegetarian, seafaod, and children's menu, the decision of what to have for lunch or dinner at Mr India is never an easy one to make, however Mr Nawani has his own suggestions and creation recipes like Nilgiri, Jafrani, Botikebab, Hariyalikebab, Button mushroom, flavoured rice and many more.
If you have got a special occasion Mr Nawani would love to cook for your group. He assures he'll cook you the best Indian you have ever had. |
